Constitution Day

Remember the importance of sovereignty and the Constitution:

Today, September 17th, is the 223rd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States. As those of us familiar with history know, it took another two years for the Constitution to be ratified. One of the conditions of ratification in several States was that a Bill of Rights should be included. New York and Virginia both added provisions in their ratification documents stating that they reserved the right to withdraw from the new arrangement if things didn't work out. Concerns of nearly every State that their powers would be significantly reduced led not only to a Bill of Rights, but also to a provision at the end of the Bill of Rights that guaranteed State sovereignty-the Tenth Amendment.
