Constables in the crosshairs
Tennessee's rural constables may be targets for abolition:
Contrary to what the people at the News Sentinel might think, most constables aren't crooks or Buford Pusser wannabes, they are just volunteers trying to bring a little more safety to their rural communities, and they give of their time and often spend money they don't have in order to try and do so without looking stupid. Instead of trying to abolish the office, most of us should be saying thank you to our Constable. We are usually just a little safer for the extra pair of eyes and ears.
