Ragsdale may reap what he sows
Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale loves to throw mud at his political opponents whether there is truth to the mud or not. He also has never cared whether the dirt that he and his operatives sling at their opposition is politically relevant or not. You reap what you so, the Scriptures tell us-and in Mike Ragsdale's case, his sins do find him out.The World received a note this morning from a confidential source that the Mayor has apparently been carrying on a "hot and sizzling" extramarital affair with Knox County Director of Neighborhoods Alison Wagley. The source also informed us that Sandra Clark may break the story in the next edition of the Halls Shopper, but as yet that remains to be seen (we hope The Shopper does put this story in print).
We've also been told that the major news outlets are aware of this story but they do not want to be the ones to break it. It will be very interesting to see if Gene Patterson has anything to say about the story if and when the Shopper actually breaks it. Normally, we wouldn't bother with a story like this, but if this proves to be corroborated there is a certain justice in it. The man who loves to trash the reputation of others and destroy his political opponents could be brought down by his own sin, sleaze-and yes, shortsightedness.

David,
This is HOT! (Pun intended) Is there a picture of Alison Wagley anywhere that you know of? Does anyone know if she's married? Wow, if this is true and the story breaks I feel quite confident in saying that Mr. Ragsdale's hopes for the Governorship will soon be "non-operative."

David,
At the risk of giving you the big head -- YOU MADE GOOGLE! I googled "Alison Wagley Knox County TN" and you were an entry the first search page! Congrats!
SteveMule
Are you a Christian? This woman has children and a family and you're making serious accusations without ANY facts. Shame on you for posting this libelous crap!
David,
This is obviously fake and wrongly written. Everyone knows that IF Ragsdale where to have an affair it would have been with Allan not Alison. The republican party has a small tent with a huge closest.
really, well check the real estate closings in October and see what Chamber employee bought a condo downtown last fall. In his name only, not jointly with his wife. In this day of disappearing comments and all, it is also copied below.
"Lofts at Union LLC to Garrett Wagley, in Residences at Market subdivision, $262000."
This is public record, not rumor.
The Wagleys still jointly own a house on Kesterwood in Fountain City, according to KGIS.
This all makes a lot more sense.
Finch's resigning today was no conincidence. THIS is what she's been holding over Ragsdale's head.
Now that it's out, she has no more ammo . . .l
David,
This was recently pointed out to me:
"libel per se
n. broadcast or written publication of a false statement about another which accuses him/her of a crime, immoral acts, inability to perform his/her profession, having a loathsome disease (like syphilis) or dishonesty in business. Such claims are considered so obviously harmful that malice need not be proved to obtain a judgment for "general damages," and not just specific losses.
You might want to think about play'n this closer to your vest, if'n you know what I mean.

The whole libel angle is NOT an issue. Google New York Times Vs Sullivan, please. The KNS blog is yanking these rumors so fast there is no time to read them.
Thanks Dave
Steve;
Last anon is right.
A.) If what I am saying is true, it isn't libel (and it is, so it is not libel).
B.) New York Times v. Sullivan applies here.
David,
I was just trying to look out for you. This has created a quite a stir on Knoxviews. Look at the "Cynthia Finch Resigns!" thread. I was having fun with the fact that, at the moment, at least, this all just gossip. I used the line from the Humphry Bogart classic movie Casablanca "I'm shocked, shocked I tell you! There's [ ] going on here!" And ... wow, did I ever step in it! Folks jumped all over me for it. All sorts of admonishments concerning "Libel per se" and well, you can read it for yourself.
SteveMule
Steve;
I can't believe I am helping out the folks at Knox Views, but you do realize that Sullivan essentially shields the press (and blogs are now considered part of the free press, there have been court cases to that effect) from suits of libel where politicians are involved (it is quite a bit more complicated than that, but that is the very simple-fit-for-a-blog-comment-thread version.
David,
I do realize that, but others ... well, they took a differnet view as you saw.
I still think the whole thing was kind'a funny but I suppose it did get out of hand.
Are you absolutely sure that it is true? I know you don't like Ragsdale (I don't like the job he's done, but don't know the man, I've never met him) and there's no chance that your feelings are coloring this is there?

Monday's Shopper has come and gone - and no story . . .
Still just smoke . . . no fire.
If a tree falls and do is there, does it make a sound?
If the mayor is indiscreet and no one reports it, is it fact . . .
I must step up here and defend David in the fact that I have seen the proof and documentation and there is definitely a story here only it has a few twists and turns yet to be seen. Good work David and keep it up.
David, Fabian,
When is the proof going to come out? Because, for rightnow at least, it really is just gossip. Who has the proof and why are they sitting on it? Secondly, does this have any bearing what so ever to Ms. Finch's resignation?
SteveMule
Not sure about Ms. Finch but I can tell you that what David has uncovered is known to be true and I am not sure why it is not being reported but it has been confirmed by several VERY reliable people.
Here is a pic of her:

Wonder how her husband feels about this?
