Comrade Obama

Here's what Investor's Business Daily had to say about Comrade Obama and his associates:

How is it a front-runner for the highest office in the land can reject an American flag on his lapel but permit the display of a huge Cuban flag at one of his offices, emblazoned with a mass murderer's mug?

Improbable as it sounds, it's true. Barack Obama, displaying the same "anything goes" standard of patriotism he showed when he ostentatiously refused to wear a U.S. flag in his lapel, now shows he's got a whole different idea about patriotism.

One of Obama's volunteer offices in Houston was caught operating under a huge flag of communist Cuba with Che Guevara's face printed on it, according to images shown on Fox News. Flak from bloggers ensued — followed, of course, by spin control.

But rather than repudiate the image, Obama would only call it "inappropriate," apparently without insisting it be taken down. That contrasts with his dismissal of his Senate colleagues who wear lapel flags as "hypocrites." Some hypocrites.

The display of the Castroite flag with Che's picture on it sends a particularly disturbing message about his campaign. Apparently, Obama tends to attract the kind of people who think of mass murderers like Che and Fidel as romantic revolutionaries. Those same people see Obama as a man with a messianic message. These are the voters he'll be indebted to should he win higher office.

In 1996, Cuba shot down two U.S. planes, killing six Americans whose only "crime" was trying to rescue Cuban refugees at sea. Had a political candidate in Latin America pasted up a picture of Che at election time, there'd be no doubt where he stood — ones who did just that are now running countries with names like Bolivia and Venezuela. Is that what Obama really stands for?

Perhaps Obama thinks that Communist sympathizers have a place in the America that he says he wants to build. If that is the case, is this a man that we really want to be the leader of the free world?

Is this the anthem of Obama's America?

Is this really any different than how...uh, certain people..love the Confederate Flag and prefer it over the American Flag? Is it really any different from those who profess to miss the old-time South and everything that comes along with it? Is it really any different from those who romanticize racists and bigots who systematically oppressed (and often murdered in great numbers) Southern blacks?

I don't think so.

In the above regard, this post is rather ironic.

Daley,

You are retarded. How many people where ever murdered because they were black? And do you even understand the origin of the so called "Confederate Flag" ??? You do realize that it was the flag of the First Army of Tennessee before any government decided to use it. Bigs suck but please don't attack my culture. That would be very bigoted of you.

Daley - So you're saying it's OK to fly the flag of one murderous regime because someone flies the other? One "good" turn deserves another. What if Obama offices had items referring to Stalin or Mussolini? If Obama can't control his campaign offices, how can we expect him to perform in office?

I posted this cmment on an earlier thread about the same subject:
David,
What is amiss here?
"This statement was to be found on the website of Fox 26 in Houston:

The office featured in this video is funded by volunteers of the Barack Obama Campaign and is not an official headquarters for his campaign.

Considering what reporters were saying about the office in the report, why does something seem amiss here?"

What's amiss is that this is a BS slime story! That's what's AMISS!
It is not an OFFICIAL campaign HQ and probably never will be after this. No one from the Obama Campaign was involved, or even present, or even in town, and probably not even in the state yet.
Going off on this story FOX News and rightwing blogs get to bloviate for awhile but really trying to stick this on Obama is like pegging Jackie and Dunlap over at RedStateUpdate.com as official (and typical) Thompson campiagn workers/supporters. Please.

I won't get into the confereate flag issues. They simply distract from Che slime beng thrown at Obama. Like him or hate him but don't let cheap sensationlism (AKA slime) grow legs it doesn't deserve.

Ciardi;
Quite true, indeed.

Ciardi,

Actually, no, I'm not saying that it's OK. Honestly, in both instances, I find the practice to be pretty repulsive.

The reason I posted my comment was to point out the irony behind the post in question. As a matter of disclosure, the author has on innumerable occasions in the past, professed his love of all things Confederate, including the Stars & Bars. This has included a profession of strong desire for the Confederate States of America to re-emerge.

So...it's just really ironic that the author would be lobbing these accusations at a black man running for President. It's a "pot calling the kettle black" moment, if you will.

I do know the history of the Confederate flag. However, the innocence of its origin does not make its later use "go away". Those later uses still occurred.

And Southern culture is my culture. Although I don't currently live in the south, I have done so for most of my life. I'm not attacking Southern culture, unless you are claiming that Southern culture is still mainly about the Confederacy and hating black people. If that's what you're claiming, then I probably am attacking it.

Also, to answer your first question, many thousands of blacks have been killed due to racist motivations in the South. And those that weren't killed were first enslaved and then systematically oppressed.

It's sad, but it's true.

David, Ciardi, et. al.,
This wasn't an Obama HQ! It was an empty office rented by some twits HOPING that when the Obama campaign got to Texas they would score big-time points for their initiative and be invited to join the official campaign. It might've worked to but I think the flag thing sort'a, kind'a killed that. Again, linking the Che flag nit-wits to Obama is like linking Jackie and Dunlap to Fred and now McCain since Fred has endorsed McCain. It's stupid and silly and if that's the best the Right can manage then they're in trouble.

Steve,

Republicans are in trouble regardless. But if this is the best they can get on Obama, you're right that they're in even more trouble. It's ridiculous.

OBAMA is just Socialism we can believe in, finally! This countrys citizens needs to, actually MUST, trust the government and its highly qualified and experienced leaders with all aspects of their welfare. We are just individual people, Obama is one of the many structured elite that knows best how to distribute our goods and money for the betterment of the world. It really is time for us to accept the fact that we tried the whole republic/democracy thing and it's just pissing everyone in the world off ... so let's shut 'er down and give socialism a real run for its money. The USSR just did not do it right, they did not have Obama there to guide them, we are fortunate to have him, so let's get this party started!! Socialism, the solution for a better future!!
