MITT'S OUT-we have a two man race
Mitt Romney is set to announce that he will suspend his campaign. He is set to make this announcement before the Conservative Political Action Conference in just a bit.Where now will Romney's delegates and supporters go? It appears that McCain will be the nominee, but from a raw political perspective, it behooves Mike Huckabee to stay in the race as long as possible.
NOTE (12:54 PM): He is making it official as I write this. It is the best speech I've ever heard him give...it is a real doozy.

Wouldn't it be better for the Republican Party for Huckabee to drop out and cede the nomination to McCain, so McCain can focus on getting his general election apparatus up and running?
From a devil's advocate point of view, it seems to me that, if the goal is to win, it would be best to provide McCain with as much lead time on the Democrats as possible.
What good does it do McCain to fight with Huckabee over the next several months, especially when Huckabee would need to get 60% of the remaining delegates just to prevent McCain from getting to the magic number of 1191?
There's simply ZERO chance that Huckabee will pull that off, given his limited-to-evangelicals appeal and given the fact that most people will now view the contest as over and will stay home.
If Huck stays in, he's doing McCain and the Party no favors whatsoever.
As bad as it is for your side, don't worry, you're up against democrats.
We'll self implode like we usually do.
I think it was Will Rogers who said, "I don't belong to any organized political party. I'm a democrat."
David,
No it's not a Two-man race. It's one man and a holder-on'er-long'er-than-tacky guy. It's a metamucil comercial and a sermon, it's dank and dreary, it's more conservative than Don Imus editing a Ron Paul newsletter!
