New poll

Blogging for Bryant has a new poll up today that says Hilleary is beating Ed Bryant, who is beating out Bob Corker-the race, however, is very tight. Considering that one of the sponsors of the poll is the Nashville City Paper, I can't help but wonder if this is one of those "polls of convenience" designed to derail a candidate's momentum, namely Ed Bryant's.

I will say this: It is now officially as good a time as any for Ed Bryant to begin an East Tennessee ad blitz.

Be patient. I don't think the Bryant campaign should get too anxious because of this poll and start running ads too early. There will be plenty of money to run a strong ad campaign, but no one can match what Corker's doing. Waiting until mid-summer is smart. More voters will be paying attention and the Bryant campaign can get the most bang for their buck.

For now, we need to work hard at the grassroots level to get the word out about Ed. Whether it's knocking on doors, phone banking or just putting a bumpersticker on your car. Everyone needs to sign up to volunteer.

Ed will win this race, but it's going to take a lot of hard work and faith. Then we'll finally have someone who will be a true conservative Senator for TN!

Mr. Oatney & JB,
I seriously doubt that Mr. Bryant will win. He will lose precisely because of why you like him - he's a real conservative. Corker is the money boy - he has it, he can get it and he can help spread it around - that's why he has the support he has. Later this summer you'll see questions of "electability" come into vouge concerning Mr. Bryant; can he attract the "swing voter", the "independent" and tbey'll use his conservatism against him. They'll use his supporters against him; "... the hardright blogsphere is solidly in support ... but ... leaders in the party question whether or not this hurts his appeal with mainstream voters ... " and so on.
The Corker $upporter$ have a ve$ted interest in this race and will spare no expen$e in trying to paint Bryant as the Howard Dean of Tennessee's radical hardright/
Watch for it - it's coming.

I am sure it is, but we all forget-this is a three man race (in the Primary)

Mr. Oatney,
No, it is not a three man race. It 's a two man race; Corker and Bryant. Van Hillary is a non-entity except as a possible spoiler. Van Hillary will bleed of conservative votes that would otherwise go toward Bryant making Corker the victor in August. All the other reason I gave for a Corker victory still apply, of course but I'm convinced that the November race will be between Corker and Ford, with Ford coming out on top. Don't forget we have a summer of Abarmof (sp?) related scandals, hooker-gate scandals, and another hurricane season coming. Not to mention our troops are still in Iraq.
