Kefauver home is gutted after fire
In Madisonville, the Kefauver family home, a historical site by virtue of being the home of former Tennessee U.S. Senator Estes Kefauver, was gutted in a fire overnight. As the home was vacant and was largely being used for the purpose of historical display, investigators strongly suspect arson was at work.The historical landmark now leaves a blight right in the middle of town.
Senator Kefauver was the Democrats’ 1956 nominee for Vice President under Adlai Stevenson.
