Cobb Wants Debate-But Only On His Terms
The Democratic nominee in Tennessee House District 62 only wants a debate if it is on his terms:
No rational political operation would expect to organize for a debate in the middle of a campaign on anything less than 48 hours' notice, so it should not be surprising that the Marsh camp suggested Monday October 12th as an alternate date. The Cobb camp's answer is not only "no," but apparently "you debate on our terms only, or there will be no debate." Mind you, this is a man who intends to serve in a deliberative body, the Tennessee House of Representatives. Does Ty Cobb expect that the debate will always be on his terms there as well? After once again refusing reasonable debate terms, the Tennessee Democratic Party has the unmitigated gall to accuse the Marsh campaign of refusing to debate, when it is Cobb who has refused to show at various public forums.

David the marsh campaign had 5 demands before they would even debate. We agreed with four of them and negociated and agreement with the editor of the Leaf Chronicle in the room. We only asked that we talk about state and local issue's and not about National Politic's, Marsh's campaign manager said he was ok with the format and didn't ask for anything else. If he was uncomfortable he should have told us then and we would have tryed to accomadate him. The fact is Marsh didn't really want to debate, the other debate offers were on days that Ty might have to work.
David Marsh is not a Republican he voted for Obama, He supports Cloning and Stem Cell research, I don't care if he doesn't pay his taxes, I wish I didn't have to pay mine, but we don't need people like Marsh in the Republican Party, they tell me that Kent Williams is his Largest Contributor, so he will fall in Line with that Rino. You have let partisan politics, get in the way of your Christian and Conservative value's. There is noway a good Catholic in good conscience could support Pat Marsh.
According to statistics compiled by the Brady Campaign from academic studies and law enforcement sources, gun violence is a key element of domestic violence. Over half of family murders are caused by firearms, and firearm assaults are more than 12 times as likely to result in death than violence without guns involved.
Women take the brunt of domestic violence when guns are involved. In 2002, more than 4,400 women were killed with handguns. Almost one-third of these were killed by current or former intimate partners. It also appears that the presence of a firearm in the family home makes it far more likely that a domestic violence incident will end in gun violence and homicide.
In fact, it is about 83 times more likely that a hand-gun will be used against a woman by a current or former intimate partner than used by the woman in self-defense during a violent attack by that partner.
Meanwhile proponents of guns have spent millions to oppose laws that would require lengthier and more thorough background checks or that would prohibit possession of or selling a firearm to a person under a restraining order by his or her current or former intimate partner for abuse. They also oppose laws that would require the police to temporarily remove guns from the scene of domestic violence.
Well, duh! When was the last time a successful candidate allowed his opponent to dictate the terms of his campaign? If Cobb believes he can win the campaign the way he is going, then he should press forward. On the other hand, it's almost always true that the candidate pressing for debates is the one that believes they are losing. Given that, why are you and Pat Marsh pushing so hard for debates?
