Updated college football rankings

I was able to get my updated college football rankings in this morning that included the outcome of the Florida State-Miami game in the results:

1. Ohio State
2. Texas
3. Notre Dame
4. USC
5. Auburn
6. LSU
7. Florida
8. West Virginia
9. Oklahoma
10.Florida State
11. Miami (FL)
12. Tennessee
13. Georgia
14. Louisville
15. Michigan
16. Iowa
17. Penn State
18. Virginia Tech
19. Clemson
20. TCU
21. Nebraska
22. California
23. Alabama
24. Arizona State
25. Oregon

I think we all have to admit that the Vols surprised a lot of folks-I certainly didn't expect a blowout like that, and few did, even the most hardened Vol fan could not have anticipated a blowout that spectacular. I hope that it teaches Philip Fulmer a lesson: Never return to a quarterback platoon system again.

Ohio State looked as good as I have ever seen them, even with their holes on defense. This week's Saturday night showdown with Texas may decide the National Championship. You have to wonder how off-field issues will affect Texas since the 'Horns starting Cornerback Tarell Brown was arrested on drugs and weapons charges yesterday.

I was stunned at how weak Notre Dame looked, but I couldn't help thinking that this was due at least partly to Charlie Weis' hesitance to make needed changes quickly, as well as to glaring overconfidence. The Irish schedule is frontloaded, too, and that means if they are going to lose, it is most likely to happen in the next 4-5 weeks.
