Good heavens, that was some start! Does that train run by your house???
Loud!
And finally, someone worse at math than I am! You are totally off in your calculations of what it would cost to give each house member and Senate member 100 thous and 300 thous for their districts.
It comes out to around 20 million, not almost 2 billion! Huge, huge difference!!!
Ahhh, you Republicans and adding all those extra zeros! ;)
Kernell (D-Memphis) told me the he'd be going home on Friday at the latest...didn't mention having to stay for the weekend. he said he thought they'd be back next week.
I'm guessing Ophelia will show up if she's okay. Just on a human level, I am concerned about her being holed up in a hotel room by herself doing who knows what.
But I suspect she'll try to make it through this session.
Let's all hope and pray she goes to rehab this summer.
Also, I am pretty sure Cooper will be able to finish out his vote. I hadn't heard anything about any Senators going on early vacation.
Maybe your good friend Mike Williams will leave early. Heh!
(Which side would lose for that?)
Sharon;
You are correct that my math was off...it was my wife who pointed that out to me.
The difference, of course, between myself and some others is that I will admit and correct my mistake, possibly facing the ridicule of ignoramuses.
It doesn't change the point, really, that this is a blatant vote-grabbing scheme.
Re: Mike Williams: If he were to bolt early, the only people who would benefit are myself and his other constituents in the 4th District. I have never seen a public official more adept at wasting the time of a parliamentary body than Mike Williams.
Is that train outside your residence?
That is one loud sucker!!!
It's a cool sound, though.
That train reminds me of my aunt & uncle's house. They lived right next to a set of train tracks, and there were several trains per day that came by like clockwork -- including one very late at night. When I would stay there, I could tell the time of day just by the trains. It was great.
